Windstream announces a job cut
Telecom and Internet service provider Windstream has announced that they are cutting 170 jobs from their operations.
The company said that they need to cut costs as revenues from services are declining rapidly.
Windstream spokesman David Avery said that these job cuts would include involuntary layoffs. They are hoping that some of the employees would volunteer for buyouts.
The company would be paying around $6 million in severance benefits to the affected employees.
Avery added: “We continue to experience revenue pressure from declining access lines. It’s important to control expenses in this economy.”
The company has a presence in 16 states, with 3.1 million access lines.
