Dell to cut costs by reducing packaging expenses
US based personal computer maker Dell has announced that they are working on reducing the expenses on packaging material to cut costs.
The company said that they aim to save 150,000 trees and $8 million with a new plan to reduce packaging materials over the next four years.
This would be part of their aim to reduce the company’s carbon emissions.
Dell plans to eliminate about 20 million pounds of packing material used to ship desktops and laptops.
They are also planning to use more recycled waste as shipping material.
Tod Arbogast, Dell’s sustainability chief said in a statement on this new development: “We’re challenging every technology company to join us in implementing a global green packaging strategy. In doing so, we will drive extraordinary environmental and cost savings for our businesses and customers while setting a new efficiency model for other industries to follow.”
