Sprint Nextel to launch dual network modem for laptops
Sprint Nextel has announced that they would soon start offering a new laptop modem that would work with their mobile network in addition to the Wimax compatible networks.
This USB Modem U300 would go on sale later this week in Baltimore.
Sprint is already providing their Xohm branded Wimax service in this region.
Sprint said that the model would automatically search for the compatible Wimax network and connect to it.
If the user moves out of the Wimax region, the modem would automatically switch to the slower CDMA based mobile network.
Todd Rowley, vice president of Sprint’s 4G business unit said in a statement: “This was the ultimate device that we wanted to start with that provided the best of both worlds.”
