Chinese mobile companies to spend $41 billion on 3G network
The Chinese government has said that the mobile service operators in the country would spend about $41 billion on the 3G network being established in the country.
These funds would be spend over the next two years as the country gets updated to newer mobile internet technologies.
The government also aims to support the development of core microchips, terminals and testing equipment to support this next generation network.
China is planning to award the long-awaited licenses early next year to get the thing going.
The country has developed its own 3G technology named TD-SCDMA 3G standard for this network.
China Mobile would use this network for their 3G services.
China Unicom is planning to operate a WCDMA network.
China Telecom on the other hand would build a CDMA 2000 technology based network.
