Toshiba to establish a lithium-ion battery plant in Japan
Japanese tech giant Toshiba has announced that they would be setting up a lithium-ion battery plant in Japan to meet the growing demand for such products.
The news help the company stock as it went up by 6% on this news.
Toshiba said that they aim to start manufacturing Super Charge ion Batteries by 2010.
These batteries are more efficient than the conventional products available in the market.
They recharge faster and are less prone to fire.
Market sources say that the company would spend up to 30 billion yen on this new factory. Toshiba is already manufacturing these batteries at another plant in Japan but the capacity is very low.
