Microsoft, Apple, and Google sued for file preview features!

Indiana based Cygnus Systems has filed a lawsuit against the three giants Microsoft, Apple and Google claiming that they are infringing on a patent owned by them.

The patent is related to file preview technology which gives the user a view of a file before it is opened.

Microsoft uses this technology in products like Windows Vista and Internet Explorer 8. Google uses it in their Chrome web browser. Apple uses it in Mac OS X, Apple iPhone and Safari web browser.

Cygnus representative Matt McAndrews added: “They were a logical starting place for us. We’ve identified many other potentially infringing products that we’re investigating.”

They are seeking a reasonable royalty in addition to a court injunction against these companies.
