Europeana.eu relaunches with a beta tag

European Commission has relaunched their online European library which crashed on the day of its original launch.

Europeana.eu was launched on November 20 with much fanfare but it failed to survive the high load it faced on the day of launch.

European Commission spoke about the relaunched website: “Europeana works well again. It went through a series of stress testing.”

They have added more servers powering this online destination. And they are prepared to add more if the traffic overloads the website.

The site also comes with a warning for the visitors: “Europeana is testing newly configured hardware. The site is therefore open for you to use but the user experience may not be optimal in this test phase e.g.: the number of users will be limited in peak times.”

EU plans to add more content to this online destination with time to make it a must visit for any web user.
