Consumers Union acquires Consumerist from Gawker Media
Gawker Media has announced that they have sold their popular blog Consumerist to Consumers Union.
Consumers Union publishes Consumer Reports.
Consumerist would now become a new department for Consumers Union.
Kevin McKean, vice president and editorial director of Consumers Union spoke about this acquisition: “We don’t want to acquire the Consumerist and then squelch it in some way.”
The financial aspects of this deal have not been revealed.
Nick Denton, founder and president of Gawker Media has been selling a lot of blogs in the recent times. He said that the online advertising market is not as healthy as most people believe.
