Toyota working on Solar-Powered Hybrid Electric Car?

Market rumors are claiming that Japanese automaker Toyota is working on a Solar-Powered Hybrid Electric Car.

The vehicle is going to be powered by solar panels which are mounted on the roof of the car.

This seems unlikely considering it is very hard to collect enough solar energy to power a car for a decent distance.

Toyota might have found a way to do the needful but it sounds unrealistic for the time being.

They might be using the solar energy to get extra power to the electric car. But unless the company release some details… it is hard to speculate.

Toyota was earlier rumored to be using a similar technology on their Prius model to extend the battery life of the electric motor. That turned out to be not true.
