Semiconductor sales went down in November 2007
Semiconductor Industry Association has reported that the sales of semiconductor goods fell down almost 10 percent in November last year.
This was largely due the slowing down economy.
The report stated that the sales dropped to $20.8 billion in November from $23.1 billion a year earlier.
However, the overall sales till November 2008 were up 0.2 percent to $232.7 billion compared to the same period in 2007.
SIA President George Scalise said in a statement: “The worldwide economic crisis is having an impact on demand for semiconductors, but to a lesser degree than some other major industry sectors. We expect the industry will remain the second largest exporter in the U.S. For 2008.”
The market is very competitive and the players have to price their products competitively. This also results in lower profit margins for the manufacturers.
