Apple MacBook Pro 17” launched

Almost all the rumors about the new product launches from Apple have come true.

The company has launched a 17” edition of MacBook Pro. This new edition is built on the same precision unibody enclosure as the other MacBook models.

The company said that this new laptop is the world’s thinnest 17″ notebook. It is also being touted as the world’s lightest 17” laptop model.

Apple MacBook Pro 17” features a LED backlit display which supports a 1920×1200 pixel resolution.

Other features include:

a 60% greater color gamut,
a 700:1 contrast ratio,
improved viewing angles

This edition of MacBook Pro is available in both glossy and matte screens. Users can also order this notebook with antiglare option for an extra USD 50.

Apple added that this new model comes loaded with 3 USB 2.0 ports, FireWire 800, a mini display port, an express card, a glass trackpad. Customers can order it with a 2.93 GHz dual core processor. RAM upgrades up to 8GB of DDR3 memory are also available. 320GB hard disk is standard though customers can order it with a 256GB solid state drive.

Apple also promises very long battery life on this model…

Eight hours if used with the Nvidia 9400M graphic processor
Seven hours if used with the Nvidia 9600 GT graphic processor

The battery in this laptop also promises up to 1000 charges in a lifetime.

The company said that the notebook comes with a lithium polymer technology powered battery which lasts three times longer than the industry standard.
