Verizon Communications picks Microsoft for mobile services

Rumors were right. Verizon Communications has indeed picked Microsoft as their provider of mobile internet services to their customers.

Microsoft has managed to get this deal over Yahoo and Google both of which are also working hard on expanding their mobile presence in the US market.

Verizon Chief Executive Ivan Seidenberg said that an announcement on this deal would be made by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

CCS Insight analyst John Jackson spoke about this deal news: “It’s certainly a feather in Microsoft’s cap. Tough news for Google and tougher news for Yahoo.”

Reports claimed that Microsoft offered Verizon more revenue percentage compared to both Yahoo and Google to claim this deal.
