Mumbai wants Wi-Fi connections secured in the city

Mumbai police has announced that they are now planning to educate the computer users in the city to secure their wireless networks.

They are practically going to roam the city with laptops and other computing devices to check for unsecured wireless networks.

Mumbai’s DCP Sanjay Mohite said in a statement: “If a particular place’s Wi-Fi is not password protected or secured then the policemen at the spot has the authority to issue notice to the owner of the Wi-Fi connection directing him to secure the connection.”

recent terrorist attacks in the country have connections to internet usage from networks which were not secured.

An insecure network would enable anyone with a computing device to connect to internet account owned by some one else. This connectivity can then be used to plan terror attacks and other illegal activities.
