Palm Pre would not be compatible with existing Palm applications
It was expected and now it has been confirmed.
Palm has said that their new smartphone model Palm Pre would not be compatible with older applications supported on the Palm Treo or their other models.
Palm Pre is the first device to come loaded with the company’s newest mobile platform Palm webOS.
This means that the customers buying this phone would have to wait for third party developers to port their applications to this brand new platform.
Pam Deziel, vice president of product management had this to say confirming the news: “We’re not emulating the old Palm OS, but will allow third-party emulation. We’re figuring on having developers do great applications.”
Palm Pre would go on sale in the US market in the coming months. It would be available exclusively though Sprint.
