Smart plans electric car by 2010
German automaker Smart has announced that they plan to start offering an electric version of their model by 2010.
The company said that these models would be manufactured in limited quantities in the beginning.
Mass production is likely to begin by 2012 as the technology becomes more stable and cheaper.
They are going to use lithium-ion batteries in this edition of the Smart car.
The company added that their sales in the US market are pretty impressive despite the economic slowdown.
They sold around 25,000 Smart Fortwo units in this market last year.

Got heard a lot of stuff about the Smart EV..also Daimler might want a larger Mercedes EV! I’m interested to see any layout of this car, especially on the exterior. Consumers expect a simpler performance auto parts and a great tire.
