SanDisk and LG showcase carrier locked MicroSD cards
SanDisk and LG Electronics are displaying special MicroSD cards which can be locked to a carrier.
This card can then be used to provide content to the customer which cannot be used on any other device.
Uses for such a device can include free media content and other data like GPS maps.
The two companies said that the data on these cards can be modified remotely over the cellular networks.
So this could enable the mobile service providers to provide updated data to a particular customer without the worries of the data being misused.
The cards can be designed to give the user his own personalized storage which is not locked to the device itself.
