Google discarding some services to improve resource usage

Google has some disappointing news for the users of some of their less popular services.

The company is discarding some of these products. Some other projects would not be further developed.

Google Video: Google would soon disable video uploads on this service. Google already has YouTube and even Picasa Web Albums now support video uploads.

Google Catalog Search: This project is being discarded.

Google Notebook: Development is being stopped. It would stay alive for the time being. Google is suggesting users to move to other services like Google SearchWiki, Google Docs, Google Bookmarks.

Google Dodgeball: This one is fairly popular amongst the early users. It would also be shut down in the coming months.

Google Mashup Editor: It is being discarded. Google App Engine has become the focus point for the company.

Jaiku: It is being moved to Google App Engine. They are also going to make it available as an open source offering. It might stay alive with some unofficial support from Google developers.
