Sirius XM Radio to increase fees for services
Market sources say that Sirius XM Radio is close to increasing the service charges for subscribers who have multiple accounts with the company.
The company is also now going to charge for their online music feed. The aim is to enhance revenues as they need to meet debt payments.
This move is going to affect customers who have multiple accounts. They are now going to pay about $9 for additional accounts. The current fees is around $7.
Subscribers accessing the online feed would be charged $3 a month. This service was free for subscribers till now.
Subscribers would be able to avoid paying these increased prices by signing up for a longer subscription. They can also take the company’s lifetime subscription plan which costs around USD 500.

This article is incorrect. Sirius XM did NOT announce anything. Rather this story was broke via: http://siriusbuzz.com/sirius-xm-rate-increase-for-march-11th-confirmed.php

This article is indeed correct. I received an email stating this same information on Thursday, 1/29/2009. Looks like I’m about to become a former subscriber. What a brilliant decision in a troubled economy where people are starting to cut back on discressionary expenses. Looks like I found another way to save money. There are alternatives. Don’t buy a lifetime subscription as these guys will be out of business in a year.

No, the info may be correct but the facts are not. Sirius XM never made the announcement on the 22nd which was the day this article was written. The news was leaked. Sirius XM did not make a public announcement until this week.

The company will loose a LOT of users.Times are tough all over.Times like this the company needs to LOWER prices to bring in new users. They will still make more money.More folks will be signing up because the lower cost.Right now most new car buyers drop the service when the free time is done.If the cost was lowered during these hard times more people would start keeping the service.More users more $$$ it is very simple.
Come on Sirus-XM-Lets LOWER the cost abd bring a lot more users on board. When things pickup then look @ upping the cost. But not now.Come on show the Amercian people that you care about us & are willing to help us out and we will keep our service thru thick & thin.I myself have 2 radios.I also listen on line.
I will be dropping the service on both radios when the cost goes up.Everyone has a walk away point.$12.00 a month for 1 radio is to much but we are willing to pay that. But no more that that.6-8 dollars for radio number 2 is to much. But WE are willing to pay that also but no more than that.
I am willing to bet that you loose a LOT of users.I think most that have 2 or more radios will drop down to 1 radio if they do not cancel all of them.
Well I had a great run,I will sure miss the O & A show with Lil-Jimmy Norton. But this is because of the cost going up.
Good luck in the future as I really think that you will need the luck if your costs go up.
