Microsoft confirms plan to cut 5,000 jobs

US based software giant Microsoft has also fallen into the tough economic times trap.

The company has confirmed that they are going to cut jobs.

Microsoft has announced plans to cut 5000 jobs in their global operations.

The company employs 94,000 people worldwide.

The announcement was made just as they revealed a 11 percent drop in second-quarter profit.

Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer added in his statement: “We’re certainly in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime set of economic conditions.”

They are not alone. Intel and Google have also announced similar job cuts in their operations.
