Advanced Micro Devices cut prices of Phenom II processors
Intel recently dropped the prices of some of their processors.
AMD has now responded by cutting the prices of its brand-new Phenom II processors.
These processors are designed for use on high end computers and gaming machines.
The company said that they have cut the price of its Phenom II X4 940 processor (3GHz) by about 18 percent from the original price of $275 to $225.
AMD has also cut the price of its Phenom II X4 920 chip (2.8GHz) 17 percent from the original price of $235 to $195.
These prices are for chips in quantities of 1000 units. Retail prices are slightly higher.
Company spokesperson Phil Hughes said that these price cuts were introduced as per the market conditions.
