POPE Benedict now on YouTube!

POPE Benedict has launched his official channel on the Google owned video sharing service YouTube.

His videos are being hosted on the Vatican Channel. In one of the first messages, he has advised the youth to avoid online obsession that can isolate them from real life.

The video clips being hosted on this channel would be produced by the Vatican’s television center and journalists and web managers of Vatican Radio.

Google would not run any form of advertising on this channel. It would however have links to a number of Vatican and Catholic websites and video channels.

Pope had this on the new developments: “It would be sad if our desire to sustain and develop on-line friendships were to be at the cost of our availability to engage with our families, our neighbors and those we meet in the daily reality of our places of work, education and recreation. If the desire for virtual connectedness becomes obsessive, it may in fact function to isolate individuals from real social interaction while also disrupting the patterns of rest, silence and reflection that are necessary for healthy human development.”
