UK wants Broadband in every home by 2012
UK is preparing a plan which aims to have broadband access in every home in the country by 2012.
The plan aims to provide access to 2Mbps broadband in the coming three years.
It is part of the recommendations made by Lord Carter under the Digital Britain report.
The Culture Secretary, Andy Burnham said: “The report identifies news at local, regional and national level and children’s programming as amongst the key priorities. The BBC – as an enabling force is central to this: strong and secure in its own future, working in partnership with others to deliver these objectives. We will also explore how we can establish a sustainable public service organization which offers scale and reach alongside the BBC, building on the strength of Channel 4.”
