Comcast testing out free wi-fi service for cable subscribers
Comcast has announced that they are testing providing free wi-fi service to their subscribers in parts of New Jersey.
Cablevision Systems is already providing a similar service in several regions including Long Island, Connecticut and Westchester.
Comcast is aiming to complete the roll out of this service by 2010.
Comcast spokeswoman Mary Nell Westbrook said that they aim to provide wireless internet at speeds comparable to DSL internet connections.
Users would be required to put in their username and password to access the service.
Comcast needs to provide such a service to avoid losing customers to other service providers.
