Analysts still talk about a USD 99 iPhone junior
Apple has given enough hints that they are not going to launch a crippled version of iPhone with a lowered price tag.
However, analysts are still talking about Apple coming out with such a phone sometime later this year.
Apple could launch a USD 99 edition of iPhone but it is unlikely to be iPhone nano as analysts predict. They might get the telecom operators to offer a higher subsidy perhaps.
RBC analyst Mark Abramsky believes that Apple’s cheaper iPhone would lack support for 3G and GPS to lower the cost for the budget buyers.
Apple is however every likely to come out with an updated edition of the iPhone. The company is likely to offer a more powerful version which can handle multi-tasking applications and hopefully a better quality camera.
Apple COO Tim Cook had already pretty much declined different models of iPhone: “Our objective is not to be the unit share leader in the cell phone industry. It’s to build the world’s best phones.”
