Google getting out of broadcast radio advertising business

US based search engine giant Google has announced that they are now getting out of broadcast radio advertising business.

This could result in around 40 jobs being cut from their operations.

Google had launched this service in 2006 as they aimed to get into broadcast radio advertising and automate programming.

Google vice president of product management Susan Wojcicki spoke about their decision to move out: “While we’ve devoted substantial resources to developing these products and learned a lot along the way, we haven’t had the impact we hoped for. So, we have decided to exit the broadcast radio business and focus our efforts in online streaming audio.”

Google would now terminate its Adsense for Audio and Audio Ads services in May.

The company is also planning to sell off its Radio Automation business.
