YouTube now selling videos through Google Checkout

Google Video had this option and now YouTube is going that way.

Google owned video sharing service YouTube is now allowing some partners to sell videos through the service.

They had recently added a download option on some of their videos. Now, partner videos would have a download option that would come with a cost.

Video creators are allowed to set one of five different Creative Commons licenses along with the price they want to charge for the downloads.

The payments can be made using Google Checkout system.

The videos currently seems to be available in MP4 format though the company could provide additional format options in the future.

Google added that they are working for ways to prevent users from downloading the YouTube videos using tools available online.

Incidentally, YouTube service usage agreement currently disallow users to download videos which do not have an official download button on the service.
