AT&T to spend USD 1 billion on global network expansion

US based telecom giant AT&T has announced that they would be spending about $1 billion in 2009 to build out its global network.

These funds would also be used to expand the services for business customers.

The company said that the funds would be used on several projects including new undersea fiber-optic cables to Alaska, Australia, Asia, India and Puerto Rico.

They are also aiming to expand their business services to businesses in 18 new markets.

AT&T said that they need to continue investing heavily on networks to cope up with the growing demand from their customers.
