Analysts talk about a possible $599 netbook from Apple
Apple has stated that they have a few ideas in their mind when it comes to developing netbooks.
But the company also said that the netbook market is not mature enough for them to enter at this point of time.
Brian Marshall, an analyst at Broadpoint AmTech has now stated that the company can develop a netbook at a price point of USD 599 which would be profitable for the company and it would not harm the sales of their regular notebooks.
Apple has a variety of notebook models like MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
Marshall spoke about his research: “Currently, Apple has about 3.5% of the computer market. But I see that tapering off this year, for two reasons. One, it will be difficult to stay at that share in this downturn with a high-priced product. And two, the company has indicated it has no interest in playing in the fastest-growing segment.”
He said that the company can develop a netbook model with a 10.1-in. screen and a 16GB solid-state drive. It could feature an ARM processor which can be developed by Apple’s P.A. Semi division.
Apple currently uses Intel processors in their desktops and notebooks.
