BMW selling more cars in India compared to Mercedes Benz
Mercedes Benz finally has some serious competition in the Indian market.
It comes from the luxury marque Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW) which sold more cars than Mercedes in the month of January.
BMW managed to sell 270 cars and sports utility vehicles compared to just 89 units for Mercedes Benz.
2009 seems to be the year when Mercedes would fight it out with BMW to win the hearts of the Indian luxury car buyers.
Peter Kronschnabl, president, BMW India spoke about this achievement: “We were able to take the lead in January thanks to the success of the 3 and 5-Series. Around April we will get a clearer picture of market demand and will be in a better position to predict on following months.”
BMW sold 2,908 units last year compared to 3,621 units for Mercedes Benz. But this year, the things could change in favor of BMW.
