Microsoft sues TomTom for patent infringement!

US based software giant Microsoft has filed two patent infringement complaints against GPS navigation company TomTom.

These complaints have been filed with the U.S. District Court in Washington and the International Trade Commission.

Microsoft is claiming that TomTom is infringing on eight of their patented technologies.

Microsoft deputy general counsel Horacio Gutierrez said that they had been trying to get into a licensing deal with TomTom for over a year with no results.

He said: “They basically never were prepared to have a discussion with us with respect to licensing terms.”

Some of these violated patents are said to be related to usage of Linux in their products in connected to the file management technologies.
