Amkette has announced a new product for the Indian market.

The company has now launched their ultra portable Flash TV multimedia player.

This device is capable of playing digital content from a USB drive like movies, music and even photos. It also support memory cards and flash drives.

It is capable of delivering in 720P on HD television sets.

The company said: “In this age of digital revolution, our consumers are evolving everyday and are demanding high-end products that fit their wallet and are easy to use. The new Flash TV unlocks the content from PCs and storage devices and makes it simple for people to enjoy their media on their home theater system, LCD’s, plasma screens or the normal television without the need to spend time configuring a complicated device or transcoding files to make them compatible.”

Apple iPod continues to dominate the portable media player market despite facing several challenges over the year.

However, the biggest challenger to the iPod came from another Apple product itself!

Apple iPhone and iPod Touch continues to eat into the sales of iPod as more customers are preferring to buy the all in one device. Apple iPod Touch is of course part of the iPod range itself.

Apple iPod is also celebrating its 8th year this week. Apple had launched the first generation iPod on October 23, 2001.

It is very hard now to think of the world when there were no iPods. And we were stuck with bulkier solutions like the Sony Discman. There were MP3 players before the iPod but none of them were really popular. Apple changed all that with the iPod.

Apple has confirmed that they would sell the Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” music compilation on their iTunes digital media store.

It would go on sale on iTunes a day before the CD is launched in the retail market.

The company spoke about this arrangement: “We look forward to offering the new Michael Jackson album, as well as a digital-only EP with six previously unreleased tracks, providing fans a great way to get all of the new songs.”

The movie and the album would go on sale later this month.

Amazon dominates the eBook Reader market with their Kindle device.

The company recently announced the launch of the Kindle in the international market.

They have competition in the form of Sony Reader. But things are going to become more interesting now.

Market sources say that Barnes & Noble is working on their own eBook reader model.

Barnes & Noble could launch this product as early as next month just in time for the holiday season.

Barnes & Noble did not confirm the reports but said: “Barnes & Noble believes that readers should have access to the books in their digital library from any device, anywhere, at anytime.”

Amazon is all set to launch their Kindle eBook reader internationally.

The company showcased the international edition of the popular eBook reader.

Amazon boss Jeff Bezos said that this new edition would go on sale worldwide later this month (October 19).

It would be available through the US retail store.

The company also plans to launch a UK centric device for the British users in the near future.

Bezos said: “In the future, we plan to introduce a UK-centric Kindle experience, enabling you to purchase Kindle and Kindle books in sterling from our Amazon.co.uk site.”

Justin D. Gawronski had filed a lawsuit against Amazon when the company remotely removed an eBook from his Kindle reader.

Amazon had in fact removed two ebooks from all the Kindles which had them rightfully purchased from the Kindle Store.

The company later clarified that the ebook was sold without permissions from the copyrights holders.

Amazon has now stated that they would not remotely delete content from the Kindle users without getting permissions from them.

The company has also agreed to pay $150,000 in legal fees. This money would be donated to charities.

This would still require an approval from a court judge. But we hope this is the end of the whole mess that Amazon created in the first place.

iLuv has announced that they would start selling their i1166 portable multimedia player from next month.

i1166 has been priced at USD 270.

it features a pretty big 9-inch widescreen TFT LCD. The device is capable of playing both CDs and DVDs.

It can also play videos from an iPod device that can be connected to it. It also support memory cards and USB drives. Format supported are: Audio CD / VCD / SVCD / DVD / CD-R / CD-RW / DVD±R / DVD±RW / DivX / MP3 / WMA / JPEG.

Vodafone has now become the only mobile service provider to have deals with all the major music labels to distribute their music over the air to customers.

The company has just signed a deal with Warner Music Group competing the formalities.

Vodafone get the rights to offer music without any DRM infestation.

The company spoke about their offering: “The response to the DRM-free offering in all the markets where it has launched has been incredibly enthusiastic. Our customers love the flexibility that DRM-free on mobile give them.”

Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson has revealed their upcoming Earbuds.

Sony Ericsson MH907 is different from the products we see in the market today as they are motion activated.

You need no buttons to control them. They detect what you want them to do and do that!

Essentially, they require specific gestures to perform the functions. Here are some examples:

Both buds in the year: Play music
Take one bud out: Pause
Put one bud in: Attend call
Take both buds out: Stop music

The company claims that these buds detect conductive surfaces so accidental operations are not going to happen.

Sony Ericsson has not revealed the pricing and launch date. But we expect these to be expensive. People are annoyed when they are told to change their behaviour. We are betting on an average success for these.

The promotional ad is pretty cool though.

We have seen the launch of the latest Apple iPod Touch and Microsoft Zune HD portable media players in the market recently.

Sony has now launched their latest Walkman branded players under the NW-A840 Series.

The company said that these new players are the thinnest walkman players ever.

Sony NW-A840 Series comes loaded with a 2.8-inch WQVGA OLED screen. It features a TV-out port capable of outputting 720-by-480 standard definition video. FM Radio is also present.

Sony has priced this new range of players from $263 to $439.
